DEP Increases
Incentives for Non-Electric Home

Pennsylvania
residents can now take advantage of
increased incentives to upgrade
their non-electric residential
heating systems—a move that will
conserve energy and save money.
The Pennsylvania Home Heating
Equipment Rebate Program will now
offer rebates from $250 to $1,000 to
replace eligible non-electric
residential furnaces, hot water
heaters and boilers fueled by home
heating oil, natural gas or propane
with more efficient ENERGY
STAR-rated units.

A
program offered by the Insurance Department called
PA Fair Care – Pennsylvania’s
health plan for uninsured adults with pre-existing conditions will open
for applications August 4th.
PA Fair Care will be
administered statewide through a contract with Highmark Blue Shield.
Benefits will include preventive care, physician services, diagnostic
testing, hospitalization, mental health services and prescriptions. The
cost to enrollees is a subsidized premium of $283.20 monthly. For

The state Senate unanimously
approved a resolution sponsored by state Sen. Ray Musto (D-Luzerne)
that would direct the state
Legislative Budget and Finance
Committee to do a cost-benefit
analysis of developing passenger
rail service between Wilkes-Barre
and Scranton.

2009 Property Tax/Rent Rebate Program
Applications for the 2009 rebate are still available. Deadline to apply
is December 31, 2010.

After 27 years in the
state Senate, and nearly 37 years of public service, I have announced
that I will not seek re-election at the end of my current term. I
thank the public for their continued support over the past 40 years, and
will continue to strive to make Northeastern Pennsylvania a better place
to live and work. My office will remain open until November 30th,
and my staff and I will continue to serve constituents until then.
